Week 2 Jesus:The Anchor in the storm

As we look at Acts 27 we see the voyage of Paul to Rome. On the ship with him was 276 souls. They were sailors, prisoners, and a host of other people. As they journeyed to Rome they ran into a powerful storm. The text says that as they went through this storm, they could not see the sun and stars for many days and all hope that they would be saved was finally given up. It was during this storm that Paul stood up and spoke to them by saying that the Lord was going to spare there lives. The Lord told Paul " Do not be afraid". What an incredible statement the Lord makes to His servant. One of the easiest things to do in a trial or storm in life is to be afraid. We see the wind and waves crashing around us and we start freaking out. We think, " How is God going to get me out of this one?" For Paul, the Lord had mad it very clear that he must appear before Caesar. Paul, you are going to Rome. There is nothing greater than to hear God's Word in the storms we encounter in life. To say, like Paul, I believe God that it will be just as He has told me. We can stand on what God says. That is a true anchor in the storm. Jesus is the only Anchor that will see us through. He is the One who can speak to the wind and the waves and they obey Him. Let the Lord speak to you through your storms and trials and watch how He gives you a peace that passes understanding.
